Short Rotation Coppice (SRC) is a method used to produce renewable energy from fast growing tree species such as willow. Trees are planted at a high density and harvested on a much shorter rotation than conventional forestry. As an alternative to fossil fuels, SRC benefits from being carbon neutral, in that the carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere during its combustion has been previously removed from the atmosphere during growth of the crop.
